Why is christianity still so strong?

I don't understand how people still belive and waste precious time from their short lives beliving the fairy tale. Darwin's theory of evolution seems pretty solid to me after studying it in school. How can people trust a god that's book was written by mere mortal men. The bibles morals seem a bit out dated to me. Slavery, sacrificing animals, Genocide, murder, ect ect are all things that we have or atleast have tried to do away with in modern society. Wouldn't the designer of the universe have laws that are timeless. What is right and what is wrong does not change after a thousand years. I am against religion because it spreads the dangerous lie that death is not the end, as said by Richard Dawkins. When the suicide bombers of 9/11 thought they would be rewarded for blowing hundreds of people up in a huge explosion that sounds dangerous to me. As a society I think we need to face the fact that we are all going to die someday. Once we understand that more people are going to want to live rather than blow themselves and others up to please a god. Do you agree?
