Why are christians ashamed to say some things from the bible?

Lol im catholic,(not religous tho) and the bible does have some really messed up stuff in it, thats why im not religious in an organized religion type of way lol, but i think most religious christions always pick and choose what stories to focus on, and if u look at most ppl who are atheist its cuz they actually studied the whole bible lol
